More and more I’m going to wedding venues for the very first time, just like this one in Lower Grenofen near Tavistock, and getting amazed at how another terrific venue is up for the taking in the South West. Who wouldn’t want to get married in a beautiful garden, next to a flowing river in the Dartmoor valley?
Owner Nicola Evans from Ever After, has done a wonderful job, with well kept secluded gardens and tasteful decor. I loved the bridal prep mirror with the lights around it, very glam, and the attitude of letting the couple create their very own wedding, just how they want.
Jenny & Shaun, who live in Auckland, New Zealand, were the lovely couple I photographed. Down to earth, friendly and welcoming. I can see now how they came to choose their wedding venue, it seemed a perfect match, especially as they had to arrange all the wedding from across the other side of the world.
The whole day had every emotion charged, laughter, both tears of joy and sadness, Jenny’s mother was unwell but was strong enough to be at her daughters day. I could see how moving and powerful the day was, you could touch it, all this with an enormous and overwhelming sense of solidarity, everyone there was there for a reason.
My style of wedding photography is quite simple, natural relaxed and honest, all I do is capture and document the whole day, and gently prompt very now and again, suggesting a walk down to the river after dinner, as the light changes, that sort of thing, nothing contrived, just going with the flow, like the Dartmoor valley river opposite.
Thanks for your time.
