REPORTAGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN DEVON
Up there with the best of them, everything about this wedding I loved. It all took part on a farm, their farm, the couple’s, Lucy and Sam. The guests were all really friendly, the sun was out, it was a glorious summers day, even the pigs looked happy, we even had a famous comedian there, as a guest. So it was all going to escalate quite nicely from what I could see.
Lucy got ready within the grounds of the farm, away from groom to be Sam, and a good job really, as he was all dressed ready in his suit, but still working away on the farm, feeding the pigs, a bit of a contrast really, as there was Lucy sipping on glass of Champagne, getting her hair and make up done, and then in eye shot out the window you could see Sam, in a barn, feeding the cows.
It all seemed to gel into place, there was nothing contrived, certainly not traditional, everyone seemed to have a job to do, all be it just standing in the corner supping on a Devon Ale looking really cool, the whole place had a vibe, a really nice chilled relaxed fun vibe.
Myself, my second shooter Zac and the newly married couple then went for a walk around the fields of their farm, to get a few pictures, the long yellow grassy fields were perfect, the cows didn’t even seem to care and just blended in.
The place where they all ate their wedding breakfast, it even actually feels weird writing that, as I can assure you nobody that day would have called the food bit that, it was one of those days, anyway, the food bit was done in a real swept out barn, and I mean swept out. I went up there a few days before to plan it all with the couple and, well, it was a barn, certainly not a place you would host your wedding breakfast. But they all turned it around, it really did look cool, especially in the evening, when everyone came down from the field and were all singing around a camp fire to a dude on his acoustic guitar and partied long and hard into the night. Way after I had left no doubt, and I can say that with some certainty, as I found out during the celebrations that both Lucy and Sam were old ravers back in the day, like me, and we all went to the same raves, and most probably some of the guests were part of that scene once upon a time too. It was then at that point it all clicked into place and why it was such the perfect day 🙂
