EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY IN DEVON
The weekend just gone I had a brief encounter of photographing the “Rock Solid Race” at Escot House, it was mental. Only a few months previous I was supposed to be taking part in it myself, but I was becoming a dad for the second and third time to baby boy twins, booked in to take over my world not a week before, so this kind of scuppered my plans a little. Next year hopefully, as it looked great fun, mud, water, obstacles and more muddy obstacles in water.
When I say I only had a brief encounter with it, I mean that I had been commissioned that day to work for the newspapers, and so, like always when working for the press, it felt like I had to shoot off again to my next assignment, even before I had chance to put my wellies on, which by the way, my next job was another event held over 10k, but this one was a little more chilled, the Hospiscare Men’s 10k Walk instead around Exeter. Polar opposites in photographic terms.
The warm up prior to the actual event for these things always makes for good pictures, but more so this time. On stage was a man dressed only in a mankini, he, to be fair took it well, as he was a stag, on his stag do, and this wasn’t his chosen attire to wear, next to him was Pete, owner of South West Military Fitness who was running the pre-run warm ups. I’m an actual member of SWMF, and if you want to get fit, and have fun, then I can’t recommend these guys enough, but I’ll warn you now, it’s no picnic!
I wished I had more time at the event, as there were tons of photo opportunities, but here is a selection of what I could get when there, everyone was up for it, and seemed to enjoy the buzz of it all.
Here is the website for the Rock Solid Race if you want a closer look at what they do.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
