ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY IN DEVON
For a couple who would rather boil their eyes in sulphuric acid than have an engagement shoot, this set of pictures turned out pretty well indeed. They are not a nervous couple in front of the camera by any means, but completely against the idea of a photographer capturing moments between them. Intruding into their lives if you like.
I try to be unobtrusive as possible when taking pictures of couples, a natural un-posed look, but everyone needs a little direction, and this is what I was trying to get across to the happy couple. They both make me laugh, Edd’s the sort of bloke that will choose to have an engagement shoot in a woods with mud up to his waist but will wear trainers, as he can’t fit into wellies due to the size of his carves (see pic below).
It’s these sorts of things that I like about certain couples, random things.
They live in Tedburn St Mary, and we went to a nearby wood, where I got them to sit on a five bar gate which turned out to be quite eventful, not that five bar gates are good comedy, but more getting themselves aboard the gate, from a bystander, was gold.
They don’t take themselves too seriously, (especially mounting gates) which in this day and age makes for a refreshing change.
I cannot wait to photograph their wedding at the ‘Oak Barn‘, which funnily enough is today! The sun in shining, plus, they have a wedding planner ‘Jolly Good Wedding’ who I know, and will also be there on the day, so, should be a good crack.
Thanks for looking
Gareth
