Documentary Wedding Photographer

Are engagement photos or pre-wedding shoots worth it?

Firstly, I don’t really like the term ‘engagement shoot’, nor do I like pre-shoot, to me these terms cast an image of big lights, wind machines and fluffers (whatever they are) and over the top blue steel poses straight down the barrel of the lens, a thousand mile stare that could be placed straight in to any Freemans catalogue. I prefer the phrase couple time wedding photography, but for the sake of the blog I have called it engagement pre-shoot […]

ROYAL CLARENCE HOTEL EXETER WEDDING

I’ve been meaning to blog this wedding for a long while now, but felt it a little in bad taste at the time, as the wedding morning preparations all began in the Royal Clarence Hotel, in Exeter, which devastatingly only months after these images were taken was destroyed by a huge fire.  But as restoration plans are well under way, and the people of Exeter are all seeing the future of it all becoming back as it once was, I’m […]

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY HUNTSHAM COURT

For anyone who systematically reads my blogs word for word (yeah right, not even my mam does) you’d notice a strong occurrence of me saying how lovely the couple are and how fab the wedding venue was.  Well, this one shall be no different, and I’ll tell you why.  Cassie and Jonny’s ( who are lovely ) wedding ( at the fab ) Huntsham Court was amazing, one of my most favourite wedding couples ever, in one of my favourite venues, it’s […]

HOTEL ENDSLEIGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

This couple were great, we had a conversation at their wedding venue six months or so previous, we got each other, and it was on the cards since then, my style, my editing, my approach, documentary wedding photography, let’s do this and make some memory stuff happen.  Hotel Endsleigh is fantastic, the grounds and interior exceptional, this was a small wedding party and wedding, and it doesn’t matter, the outcome is always the same – fab, this sounds a bit […]

THE BARN AT SOUTH MILTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Fran & Nick! Ahhh, very fun people to be around for their wedding at The Barn in South Milton.  It all started off with myself, Stewart my second photographer and videographer Crispin heading down to South Devon early morning to capture the happy couple paddle boarding in the sea, the weather was wet, and the waves were choppy, the videographer donned a wetsuit too and was in with his Go Pro, it was all hands on deck! It looked so […]

UPTON BARN & WALLED GARDEN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Now this is a blog I couldn’t wait to write. A wedding at Upton Barn & Walled Garden near Cullompton in Devon. Elly and Lee, we met at a wedding show a couple of years ago in Exeter, I wasn’t at my stand, I had gone AWOL, I went for a wander about and to chat to other vendors, but they waited at my stand, and I was so glad they did! Such a perfect couple who really got my […]

WILTSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

I was extremely chuffed to get hired to be Lian and Andy’s wedding photographer in Castle Coombe Wiltshire.  I had heard so many great things about the place, like it was so picturesque it could go on a chocolate box, this phrase to me is banded about way too easy, but in all fairness, it lived up to the name, a wonderful setting to get married.  Not only was it the big day for Lian and Andy, but their son […]

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT COOMBE LODGE BLAGDON

I have been meaning to blog about this wedding for quite a while now, so I’ve taken this slightly quieter time of the season to put this together. The wedding of the lovely Vicki and Craig at Coombe Lodge in Blagdon near Bristol, and such an incredible venue which offers everything in terms of photographs, beautiful natural light, space, and the grounds are just awesome! So here we are, a sunny crisp October day, the day started off in Newport Wales, just […]

DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BEST OF 2017

Every year I put together a collection of images from the year, in no particular order, these are the images that stick with me, and the memories I took away from the actual wedding, and still have of the day itself with the people involved. I strongly believe weddings are a joint effort between the couple and photographer, there has to be a common ground between all of us, with the same goal and end game, which is to get […]

CAMBRIDGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I was pretty excited when I got hired to do a spot of wedding photography in Cambridge, not been there, especially for anything academic for sure. So I set off around 11am the previous morning from my home near Exeter in Devon, and got to site at a staggering 21.45pm, wow! I never knew Friday traffic could be so brutal, I can remember just being stuck on the road seven hours in and clocking a sign which read Felixstowe 90 […]
